My cheapo sets from poundland were rubbish this year, 30% bolted. It might be the weather stresses rather than the sets though. The seed sown onions are fine.

It might easily be the weather. Over half of my seed-sown onions have bolted this year.

I had a few seed-sown white onions bolt, but the red onions were much worse. Not a single Zebrune shallot went to seed, though.
