I sighed at this delightful lack of self-awareness on a Gardening in France forum – "Please could you offer me advice on the best plants to surround our new swimming pool. They must be drought resistant as we are in a really dry area often with restrictions on watering."

So how are they planning on limiting evaporation? I stayed at a lovely chateau in Provence that had tree cover around the pool to, got eaten alive my mosquitos though.

Who knows? But I weep at all the bright blue lifeless patches while ponds and lakes disappear and farmers slaughter their livestock as the rivers run dry.
I do dream of a natural swimming pond, full of life. But it is never going to happen on this slope!
