My living room window faces Northeast. I need a couple of smallish plants for the windowsill. They could be either foliage or flowwring plants. I had a mother-in-laws-tongue whisch is supposd to be 'bombproof'..........and it died. Same with another foliage plant.
Any ideas folks?

Christmas cactus? I've got a very happy orchid plalaeonopsis on an obscured northeast bathroom window.

Maybe a pothos/devil's ivy. I have one in a bathroom with frosted glass with a similar aspect and it does ok. Pretty tolerant of forgetful or over exuberant watering as well.

My North facing windows, some are stained glass so receive even less light, are home to Spider plants, Aloe vera, Christmas/Easter cactus and lots of orchids. All seem to be bullet proof.

I've got several plants on my North windowsill, but the two happiest are a Tradescantia and an Orchid. I keep meaning to try a Streptocarpus but the local garden centres don't seem to sell them.

I bought a Peace Lily in Morries this morning for 3 squid. I'll see how long it takes me to kill it off!
