I dug over the bed that had carrots in, thinking the slugs had got the rest over the winter. Two pleasant surprises:
- there was a useful amount of healthy carrots in there;
- a bumblebee buzzed past my ear while I was digging. Spring is coming!

At the garage today, filling up with petrol, idly looking at the other two people who were also putting in petrol. Suddenly the man, 2 cars over, gave an enormous sneeze.........and another one! I've never heard such a loud sneeze! The man, one car over, jumped as the sneezer was right behind him. Then he caught me looking and we both tried not to laugh at Mr Sneezy. The three of us went in to the kiosk to pay at the same time, and I was still inwardly giggling.

Some of my tomato seeds have germinated. The VW grubs are surely getting drowned in the big tray of soil I decanted from pots, which is now very waterlogged. Heaven knows how I'm going to dry it out, but that is next week's problem.

Well I sowed my tomato seeds for the year on 29th Feb. and most germinated by4th March but none of my Alicante which were still not up yesterday. The Mr. F. seed packet said sow by last year and my saved seeds were from 2020. I panicked a bit and visited my local garden centre which I passed on my way to Manchester. They had plenty of other varieties but not alicante. Anyway 7 had germinated this morning. I'll have to keep at least one plant disease free and save some more seeds.

Most of you know that my name is Carole. I scribbled my name down in a hurry yesterday and when I read it today it looked just like "Ear ole". Can't stop giggling. How have I lived so long and not noticed this before?

That’s really funny. Reminds me of my friend who visited over Easter. Apparently she was humming to herself in the car on the way up here. Her other half questioned what she was doing. She said humming the American national anthem. To which her parents laughed hysterically and pointed out, what she was actually humming was we wish you a merry Christmas. . Bless her, she’s as mad as a box of frogs .
