So sorry - I have searched and searched but can’t find the post. It was either Martin or JJB. Apologies to one of you! Anyway we both had some odd seedlings pop up in our sweet pea sowings that looked like vetch foliage. Not even from same supplier - mine was cheapo from Lidl (incidentally, they have been fabulous!!) Martin’s of JJB’s came from a “proper” seed merchant. I grew mine on in a three inch pot- didn’t bother to plant them out. Here they are …. Quite pretty and def not vetch!
How did yours do Martin or JJB????
Thanks Martin.
Must’ve been JJB then.
I’ll plant them in the garden now that I know they’re not vetch and have a go at saving seed.
Strange though that they should appear in sweet pea packets from different suppliers, isn’t it.
T'was me and mine died through neglect, so they never made it to flowering. That'll teach me to not put a pot of anything growing above eye level, it just gets forgotten.
A follow up to last year....
Looks like I've got even more vetch in my seed packets this year.
The "normal" sweet peas are as I expect them to be, short and sturdy - but you can see that the suspected vetch is ramping away with very feathery leaves.
Will be separating them very soon... Just three to a 9cm pot as recommended.
I usually separate them as soon as they show signs of sprouting.
All behind myself with everything at moment.
