A couple of weeks ago I found a strawberry over ripened and with fly eggs on it . So not fancying eating it, I removed the eggs and took thin slices of outside flesh & seeds and planted them.
It seems to of worked . I have baby something growing in the pot, to soon to tell if it’s actually the strawberries.
Fingers are crossed.

Interesting, I noticed some of my strawberries merged together with what looked like leaves growing at the junctions, perhaps I should have planted them. I'll watch your experiment instead.

Don't see why it wouldn't work. I shall be watching this with interest.

They do funny things - its "Phyllody" or, as I say it Bill Oddy.
Otherwise, could be our old friend - Fasciation.

I like 'fasciation' a lovely word, sounds like a dance move. Phyllody is new to me, am looking that one up.

After looking up variety, it's not Malwina, but Mighty Marshmellow.

The experiment seems to be going very well. I’ve about 23 seedlings now.
Next thing I need to find out is if strawberries have crossed or if they will grow true.
