Oh well - ever the optimist.
What a waiting game this has been - waiting for them to arrive - and an even longer wait for them to flower.

Yes, I naively assumed that the "special offer" was because they had surplus unsold plants they wanted to shift. But in fact these plugs have been grown to order, perhaps from seeds left over from packeting up.
Still, most of them came through the post OK and I've now put them into a 24-cell module tray in the cold frame to grow on. Just a couple of Doronicums might not make it.

While I'm having a moan, I wish suppliers would put the species name on as well as the varietal one. It gives us growers a better handle on how to treat them. I think mine are Salvia nemorosa, Echinacea purpurea, Doronicum caucasicum and Coreopsis grandiflora. Time will tell!
How are the minuscule plantlets doing, Martin?
Mine are still sitting in the little modules I planted them in.

They need moving on into individual pots. Mostly OK though.

I hadn't realised Mr F had been bought out by management last year. The buyout was funded by private equity and unfortunately when vultures like that get involved they are looking for a big return on their investment, so I expect quality to suffer.  Angry Another independent seed seller bites the dust.

I noticed that my recent purchase of rhubarb plants (and free seeds) was payable to GreenRegis which threw me. Have to say though, that the rhubarb plants were in excellent condition and very well packaged so can't fault them so far.

More gardening finance news. Sarah Raven is currently raising cash after buying a nursery that was her main plant supplier. Her requirement is a lot less than Fothergills was at £1.25M via Triodos Bank. I've occasionally invested a bit on the Triodos site but not really interested in that one.
