Bombay bronze cockscomb

Apparently I’m getting Celosia cristata 'Crystal Beauty' . Very exciting

My seeds have arrived   .

My one and only Bombay bronze is growing very nicely. It’s really cool , I really like it .

Crystal Beauty looks equally beautiful - but isn’t it strange how Chiltern Seeds, Plants of Distinction and Johnny’s Selected Seeds (USA) all feature exactly the same pair of hands holding the same bunch of flowers on their websites!

Are you going to keep the seed for next year or try now?

Probably next year. I think it’s a bit late now.

They have changed the wording which is good to see...though super pricey for just 15 blooms. I begrudge paying for my snap dragon seeds but all is forgiven when i see them flower.

It’s still growing. I just love this thing, it so weird. And stunning at the same time.

   

Look what else I found!

   

So it’s taken since the end of April. When I incorrectly pinched out 2 of the plants. Until now for it to put out a couple of side shoots. So pleased I didn’t just pull them up and bin them! Only one of the two I pinched out has started doing anything. A really surprise. I honestly didn’t think they were going to do anything.

It’s getting bigger. It’s just awesome. 

         

The second flower suddenly went very droopy. No idea why. I cut the flower off and put it in a vase to see if the actual flower picked up . Then that would indicate something had been at the roots. But it didn’t pick up, it just stayed droopy. 
The 2 I pinched out incorrectly, are bushing out nicely. So fingers crossed I’ll get at least one flower on them .
