I couldn't believe how well made they were. Fascinating......
And I knew what they were after going to the Jekka Herbs open day and bee Talk with ...VC please fill in the lady's name Jean Vernon ... she was fabulous to listen too. Worth a fiver just to listen to her for half an hour.

I've seen 2 leafcutter bees today, each carrying their little leaf. One is stuffing them down the side of a strawberry container and the other was pondering whether to make a nest in a pepper plant pot in the GH.
My next task is to work out which type it is...........hadn't realised there were 7 of them. https://www.beelife.org/leafcutter-bees/

Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.

While watering the greenhouse this morning, I noticed something green flying around. I realised it was a leaf cutter bee so watched where it went. It went under an abandoned seed tray just outside on top of a wheelie bin and started stuffing it into one of its drainage holes. I saw it again stuffing another piece of leaf into the same place.

Mine last year were found in abandoned seed trays!

I think one of my cherry trees may have succumbed to a leaf cutter bee. I will make some photos tomorrow and post for your opinion.
