Upshot is he has esophageal cancer. NHS very good but it's knocked him for six, as it would anyone. As he's so elderly surgery or chemo are not an option.  All very sobering. Sad

That's very sad news. I'm sure he must have been very glad to have you there for support.

He was indeed grateful and said so. The endoscopy team were even more grateful,  having somebody to help him understand made their job a bit easier. We're on a journey of discovery from here on in.  Confused

Full size skeleton and stand!

Haven't checked it's all there but I'm assured it is - this was used as a prop by a theatre group. Her name is Jen, please take good care of her [Image: 1f602.png]

Guess who I thought of - but she's not all there.  Big Grin

That’s a nice friend you have there Veggie Big Grin

MrB tested Covid positive last Friday and it looks like I’ve caught it I tested negative but have the symptoms.  No point  being in denial especially when I  couldn’t smell or taste Marmite so I’ll stay at home just in in case.

I know I've been trying to lose weight but that's taking dieting to extremes.  Please tell me you didn't make that an IN.

Oh Bren, I hope you start feeling better soon. Omicron is generally a better variant to catch but it can still make you feel utterly rotten (I have certainly not enjoyed COVID Round 2 this past week!)

Veggie, I was pleased to see that "Jen" looks like a model and not a real skeleton. Most of the genuine skeletons come with a heavy burden of Colonialism and exploitation and are very difficult to deal with in a respectful and sensitive manner.

I went up my garden to water my tomatoes yesterday and then spotted some flowers that looked like they would be good for cuttings. Went inside to get done secateurs and could hear drip-drip-drip in my kitchen. Ended up pulling cupboards apart to find the source which was s high pressure jet coming from one of the pipes under my sink, spraying against the kitchen wall and dripping down off the other pipes...

Having dismantled things, it turns out that the tap I thought was the stopcock isn't the stopcock at all, so no idea where it really is or how to turn the water off. I've wrapped the leak in cling film, which hasn't stopped it from leaking but has controlled the spray so that the wall isn't being affected and I can focus the drip so it will go into a bucket.

I have proper tape coming today for a better temporary fix with a view to getting a plumber out next week. Didn't want to bring one into my plague house yesterday and was expecting to be back in work today. Except rolling around on the floor for an hour set my chest off really badly and I spent the rest of yesterday coughing and tight-chested then fell asleep on the settee for five hours. So I have taken today off work too as I'm clearly not ready to be there yet.

I shouldn't be infectious now (had a second negative lateral flow in a row), but my Dad can't come and take a look as he and my Mum are staying at my Grandma's house as my brother (who lives with them) tested positive as well while they were away on holiday! Hopefully, if I can control the leak for now, I can get a plumber in next week when my parents will be back and can come over to let one in while I'm at work).

I'm really hoping a gentle day today lets me get back to work tomorrow as it sounds incredibly busy there (my team are looking after double our usual number of patients). I can't believe it's already midday, but I am showered (if not dressed!) with a view to trying to go out for a gentle stroll this afternoon (probably just for 10 - 15 minutes) to check I can cope with that before getting back to work tomorrow.

Sorry for the long post. Have been sat at home alone for a week now and am clearly under-socialised!

It's all happening to you, Pros. On the bright side, if you hadn't been home, you wouldn't have noticed the leak.
My stop tap is at the front of the house in the downstairs loo, If you have a water meter (and you should get one fitted to reduce your water rates) it will be near the meter.

Hmm, I do have a water meter. Somewhere. I have a cupboard full of meters and assume it's one of those, but I'm not sure which one. No tap with it though.

There is a stopcock at the bottom of the drive (next to the road) but I'm not sure that's only for my house and not next door as well!)

Nope, none of those is a water meter now I've checked. I wonder where it is!
