I planted toms in second gh border. Continued to dig trench for beans, filled with horse muck and reinstated soil ready for planting out tomorrow hopefully. Found strawberries ripening outdoors so had to find netting to protect them. Had a very leisurely picnic lunch on the back lawn. A lovely day.

Did the indirect sow list.
Potted on chillies and a lot of the houseplants.
Planted up a basket with spider plants and a few pelargoniums, and another with just a spider plant.
Planted out climbing and dwarf haricot, beetroot and chard.

Finally planted out some of my beans. Been waiting over a week for the weather to improve. It’s still windy but we have sunshine!!!!!and something resembling warmth! After planting them out I’d made space to move a few other things from the tunnel. Also prepared the bit of the tunnel bed ready for tromboncino when he’s bigger.

I also planted out beans and some more toms. Protected peas against pigeons who are chopping of tops. Could be rabbit but the cut was 3ft off the ground.

Planted 4 Tristan Courgettes. near the others, for company. Picked two more.
Lots of weeding in the Pea & Bean houses so that I can plant some beans (since everybody's doing it, I don't want to be left out). Pulled up some of last year's onions.
Dug up some stray raspberries that had wandered where they didn't oughtta.
Watched the bees and hoverflies on the radish etc flowers.
Thought I spotted the start of Tadpole back legs.
Found a couple of sticks of rhubarb amongst the raspberries. They're not there now.

Watered all outdoor pots which were desperately in need of it.
The bankside at the side of my house had dried out nicely after having been dug over the previous day. Mixed loads of packets of flowers seeds together including self saved poppy and sunflower seeds and broadcast them over area. I then bashed down the dry lumps of soil with a rake used vertically which helped integrate the seeds and make a seed bed.
Now we just need some rain to start the seeds off and see what turns up!

Gave one of the netted tunnels a quick fork over and planted cabbages (Tundra), cauliflower (Igloo), brussels (Evesham) and red cabbage (Red Acre).
3rd bed of beetroot and 2nd of carrots planned for today, along with constructing 7 raised beds (1.2 x 1.2).
OH coming over to help with the watering
