Do you have to drain all of the plot with pipework? Does it run off to the roadside? Need to know because I'm nosey. Big Grin

Will be draining the whole site. Cottage garden & veggie garden areas more than others. It runs off to the road side. There’s ditches all the way along both sides of the road.

Thanks! Didn't you have a bridge over the road ditch?

We did. We’ve got a culvert under the driveway now.

Planting trail notes to self.

Looking for low growing spreading plants to grow along the edge of the ditch. They will be outside the fence so need to be sheep & deer resistant.

Trail 1
orange hawkbit = still growing but not flowered yet.
Aubrieta = small stump still there. Very well pruned every time it attempts to grow.
Creeping thyme = pulled up by its roots before it had a chance to establish.

Trail 2
Bugle = planted with a flower spike and several runners
Sedum = one large clump and several small individuals.

Trail 3
Foxglove (purple & yellow) = planted amongst the native foxglove seedlings
Wallflowers = not healthy when they went in
Marjoram = planted low down on the bank

How about Erigeron/Mexican fleabane, Mint, oregano/marjoram,
The mint might not appeal to the sheep. Big Grin

Just look up the Erigeron. That looks perfect for the area. No idea how sheep & deer proof. Definitely going to try it. Thank you.

Guessing the herbs will be very popular. But I won’t know for sure
, if I don’t try them.

I've been ripping up the Erigeron from my front garden where its been seeding in the paving. Spreads easily but a real pain in the wrong place.

Is it fairly easy to control when it starts going places you don’t want it to?
