Had a fairly busy week planting out beetroot seedlings, tying down cherry tree branches so they stay in the fruit cage, planting out potatoes and potting on tomatoes, peppers, courgettes and more. Still harvesting leeks, broccoli and rhubarb. The last of the parsnips are getting too tough to roast but are ok sliced thinly and then boiled with potatoes, carrots and leeks for a veggie mash.
Visited daughter in London last weekend as well and it looks like she is clear of ground elder now.
Yesterday got a frantic call from daughter in Manchester who was trying to dismantle a greenhouse and didn't know where to start as the glass was all stuck in rather than clipped. she had found it on a freecycle site. I went along with 2 stanley knives to help her. It is a really nice green 8'x5' with safety glass and just 2 years old (apparently bought in the first lockdown) so ideal for her garden.

Finished putting up pea netting. What always seems like a 10 minute job takes forever to make sure it will withstand the weather and weight of plants. Planted saved seed Bijou mangetout plants. I hope peas don't mind their roots disturbed . Will sow some more direct when these little ones are established. Potted on toms. Why did I grow so many! A yearly mantra. Today's job is to continue with toms, prick out coreopsis and anything else busting out of their little pots, pot on the single courgette I sowed really early. Weed fruit cage 2. Sow some lettuce/salad leaves. Dig out overwintered begonia semperflorens from gh border and get them acclimatised to the outside, and a thousand other things that won't get done.

Mowed the lawn.
Spread the grass clippings over the raised beds as a mulch.
Lifted and divided some primulas which I'd wanted to move elsewhere.
Planted some Bunyard's Exhibition broad beans.
Busy day!

Weeded and pruned the Salvia tubs and planted them with sweet peas, sunflowers and calendula.
Evicted some brassica plants from GH1 and planted them at the end of the garden.
Did a lot of weeding.
Pruned the lavender - more accidental cuttings to add to the salvias from this morning!

I wanted to cut the grass but we had various rain falls and even a hail storm. Grass was to wet to cut.

Mulched currants, buddlejas, rose bank, artichokes, bed 6 with grass clippings.
Cleared second last batch of brassicas and mulched.
Strimmed veg garden paths and clipped the edges.
Started pruning the huge forsythia at front.
Fed young plants in the GH in hope of some growth!

Finished planting out maincrop potatoes. I grew some last year for this year's seed - and the last lot were just labelled "not sure" but they'll get eaten.
Then prepared some ground to grow seed potatoes for next year. It's been lying fallow for several years (and never had potatoes in the last 40).
Wrote this yesterday but forgot to press the Post button.
