Finally got the potatoes and broad bean plants in the ground then went out to dinner with friends to a restaurant, first time since the first lockdown!!!!!
Pulled out an overgrown Golden Marjoram and planted some Silver Star dianthus in its place. Also planted some Audrey Light Blue aubretia and Lilac Drumstick primulas.
Finished the weekly sow list.
Pricked out cabbages (earliest of all, greyhound and pointu coeur de boeuf) and romaesco cauliflower. I've only ever produced one reasonable romanesco but they are so beautiful I'll keep on trying!!
Helped next door elderlies pot on geranium plug plants he ordered thinking they could go straight into the garden. Reluctantly dug up a row of last year's chard and dug over the resulting bare ground ready for peas. I might even sit in the sun this afternoon unless guilt overtakes me and I do some gh pottering.
Work continues on converting the roofed shelter, where I used to take cover when it rained, into a bean and courgette bed. The roof had to come down as it had warped and was puddling water in the centre - and the seat and table that was beneath it had collapsed!!
Also planted out some Bijou mangetout seedlings alongside the Golden Sweet mangetout that were planted a few weeks ago - they've survived. Weeded the Pea house which is also home to strawberries, a couple of dwarf cherry trees and last year's onions.
Someone had dumped a large square ?cupboard outside the house last night so I've claimed it and will turn it into a very deep raised bed for carrots etc.
The Moneyless Chicken says:- Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.
Today I've tiled one wall in the bathroom, bought a new mirrored cupboard for over the sink, and grouted enough for Jay to be able to fit the towel heater/radiator when he feels like it. We're off to IKEA to buy a new sink and cupboard underneath. I'll pick up some food while we're there We'll be nipping to Wickes to pick up another cement board, which will go behind the tiles inside the shower. That should stop the damp
I've been on nights all week. No gardening has been happening! I did do some good seed organising on Monday morning before I tried to sleep for a bit. Looking forward to my three day weekend now
Formerly self-contained, but expanding my gardening horizons beyond pots!
