Quick hour over the plot this morning...

Mulched the asparagus bed and another fruit bed with leaves.
Started a general tidy of the 3 annual beds.
Brought back home 2 of the 3 daffodil pots

Bit windy out today so got my copy of 'The vegetable Expert' and made a list of veg to grow for next year adding in chilli, melon and possibly quinoa. Then got out my box of seeds and ticked off what I still had seeds for putting a ? next to packets that might need checking for viability and an X where I needed to buy. All I needed to buy was aubergine, sweetcorn and kale. I went on real seeds and ordered 3 varieties of aubergine as the one I grew this year didn't do well so thought I'd try a few varieties - mainly due to spider mite and 2 varieties of kale. when I looked at the confirmation order, a packet of blue banana squash had sneaked on the order as well. Still need to get the sweetcorn seeds.

Another quick hour over the plot....

Collected a dumpy bag of leaves.
More weeding of 1 of the annual beds, covered 1/2 with manure.
Brought back the 3rd daffodil pot.

Collected some Snapdragon seed heads I spotted when putting out the bin.

Received a seed order so went through my seeds and sorted them into one container for edibles and another one for ornamentals. All sorted for next year!

Picked up a freebie extending metal fireguard and thought about how to repurpose it in the garden! Considering removing the makeshift pallet fencing on one side of the veg plot and replacing it with the fireguard and more baby playpen and gates that I've been snapping up when offered. The other three sides are already penned. Its just to deter the dogs and chooks from running around and eating all my veggies.
Too finger-numbingly cold to start today!

Got some work done on the fence which will separate the flower bed from the veg bed, got some posts and top rails in place, but with the rain and the cold had to stop, hopefully I will get back out to it some time over the weekend

Collected another baby gate for my collection!  I've been using them at night too, to stop the dogs going too far down the garden, in case they bring back any more hedgehogs!
Pulled up some more montbretia and brambles - but not for long - too cold.
Intended to top up the chooks' corn bucket and found that a mouse/rat had chewed a hole in the lid of the storage bin!! Decanted the corn into another container and moved it to another shed. Pesky pests.

No gardening, notwithstanding the sunshine. Ran out of time as I was sorting out nextdoor's tech and phones (again). Three hours later it was lunchtime then put up tree.

Got me a garden. That's 2021's gardening plan ticked off!
Formerly self-contained, but expanding my gardening horizons beyond pots!
