Yep! Turns out, accidentally letting your radish plants go to seed results in lots of lovely flowers that are greatly loved by pollinators, and then masses of these delicious pods. I highly recommend leaving a radish or two in the ground.
Formerly self-contained, but expanding my gardening horizons beyond pots!

Strawberries and a very small handful of raspberries for Paul. Broad beans.

They are Aquilon - dwarf french bean.

I don't know who they came from. I can't find the pack but definitely from a swap. I will be growing these again. Must make sure I don't eat them all as I've only 10 plants.
Real Seeds sell them - or did in 2015 when I bought some.
The swapped ones are from Kitty12345 - "Grown 2018". I have them too. Smile

RS packet " First early French variety chosen for exceptional earliness and productivity. Very long round green pods - up to 20cms! Prolific, stringless and pods are held high for ease of picking."

Well most of mine are 20 cms - I've honestly never had French beans so long but still very fine. Absolutely delicious....it is going to be difficult to save these for seed! I don't know when to stop picking. This is definitely the best French bean I've grown.Get yours in VC!

I've been comparing the seeds and Kitty's are twice the size of the 2015 RS ones.
Do they shrink with age? Wink

Hmm, perhaps we have mutants?

Grow both and see if they are the same?

I've just eaten - and yes i know 9pm is not a good time to eat dinner -

My first beetroots! Picked, washed and stuck in a pan and roasted wit olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic and rosemary.

They were delicious!

My problem now is I've only got about 20 in as I've used the space for dahlias Big Grin

When is the last date for sowing beetroot?

RHS say July is latest time for sowing beetroot which is fortunate as I still want to sow more. TBH, I'm going to grow them in August too...........maybe September.............what about October then?

I sow beetroot right up to mid Sep, not huge when grown but perfect for roasting
