Bagging seed heads - what bags?

I know that some of you use wedding favour gift bags for bagging seed heads. Never having been to a wedding where these things were used, and having goggled them and found a multitude of colours, sizes & types - can you advise me on which are the best ones to buy please?

I do have a few homemade made big ones. Just sewn chunks of net curtain into bags and tie with string.
For big or odd shaped seed collection.

I've used plastic/butchers bags, is that ok or will that generate heat and spoil the seed?

Sounds a bit sweaty, Danny, but wait for an expert to come along.

If the material cannot breathe I think you're likely to end up with some mould happening.

For peppers/chillies I use 5x7cm bags, they are just about right for a single flower. For tomatoes I use 17x23cm bags which are big enough to cover a whole truss. If the stems on the peppers are too short I use the tomato bags on a whole branch instead.

I bought a couple of reusable produce bags in Aldi (25p each) - they're about 22x25cms and wondered whether I could use them for bagging seed heads or bunches of soft fruit to stop the birds pinching them!

Yeah I use the same as TMTT 5x7cm for my chillies. Anything bigger is homemade. I might need to make some more.

Produce bags are a brilliant idea. If my tree had any cherries they'd be very useful.

I've lost all of the currants and jostaberries to birds this year so I've been wondering whether bagging a few bunches next year might work - or, is life too short to bag your fruit??

If you've gone to the trouble of nurturing the fruit bushes then you should endeavour to save at least some of the fruit. Perhaps old net curtains draped over might give the birds some and save you some. I got so fed up with losing fruit I've now got 2 fruit cages, but can't see cages or draped bird nets working in your random garden. You'll never know if you don't try.
