What made you sad today

We have a 'happy' thread so I thought we should have a 'sad' thread .  We aren't bubbly and smiling all the time.  This isn't a place to rant about the world but perhaps to air a feeling of less than happy, hopefully it won't be used overmuch.

Likes on this thread are "sympathy" likes.

I'll start it off:

Out planting in the spitty rain I looked at the pear trees, a conference type and a comice type.  Earlier in the month it looked like the fruit had set ok, then we had a heatwave and drought interspersed with high winds.  Now looking at both trees I can't see a single fruit.  Such a shame.

As JJB says, this is not a place to rant about the world - or politics or your next door neighbour - so please don't do it.
We haven't deleted any posts on G&G since it was created, or banned anyone! Let's keep it that way. Smile
Thanks.!

I poked myself in the eye yesterday whilst getting an envelope ready to post.
Now it looks like my left eye is constantly crying.
Gardening is cheaper than therapy and you get tomatoes.

That must have been painful Neffa, hope it gets better soon.

Quite right VC, it's titled SAD, not angry.  Our local 'nextdoor' forum degenerates into a small minority  venting at each other and getting quite aggressive, so much so I've ceased looking, at it.  If this thread goes that way, I apologise in advance, I would hate to be the cause of unrest.

We've seen that happen in other places too JJB and we don't want it to happen here. I'm sure everyone here knows what will happen to them if they rant. Wink

Now where did I leave my pointy stick?

Not sad, but mad. I planted out some red onion seedlings last Monday to discover something has attacked them last night.

Definitely not slugs have a look at the photos over on the onion thread. I think it might be crows or jackdaws

There's a big patch in a wheat field near me that was flooded at the beginning of the year so the wheat died. Instead it's thick with those all weather survivors, field poppies and chamomile. Very beautiful, but looking at an expanse of poppies always makes me feel ineffably sad...........

The 2 week weather forecast does not have a single day as warm as 20 degrees and it is currently 12 degrees. TWELVE! This is the sunny south west of France for goodness sake!!
