As I understand it, a smiley or emoticon can be made with the keyboard. For example  is made by using a colon : and capital D together, but an emoji is an actual little picture. So I suppose emojis can be more detailed.

Well we used have a bee, a chilli a chickens head and others, I thought they would be nice to still have them.
