Just lucky if I’m honest. While trying to identify the beetle for our daily challenge. I realised it might not be one of the common species. So I went back up to the long grass outside my polytunnel to see if I could find him again to get more photos for identification. As I was looking for it I heard the pink footed geese flying overhead. So quickly got a photo. Then opened my Merlin app to find out what species of geese they were. After 2 minutes of recording bird calls ( because if you’ve got the app open you might as well see what else is about) . I looked down to find the little soldier beetle making his way back up a blade of grass. So mostly lucky with a little bit of patience.

I hope the lead goose knew where they were going, otherwise everyone else is in for a shock. Shade of the conga at a party ending up in the ladies loo. My dad actually did that Big Grin

I did see my first butterfly of the year. But I was one end of the garden it was the other and heading towards next door quickly. So no chance of identification.
