Does it have a fence/wall/hedge between the lawn and the road?
The Moneyless Chicken says:-
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.

There's a retaining wall at the bottom of the slope but it doesn't go above garden level (because the garden is higher than the street).
Formerly self-contained, but expanding my gardening horizons beyond pots!

Cut flowers....admittedly you can't eat them but would save you buying any ?

I wouldn't want to grow anything to eat near a road but I suppose it how busy it is and how close they will be to the traffic.

My veg patch is not too far from an A road. It's at the front side of the house, and is where it is because that's the only place I could get one after other considerations. It isn't ideal but it's what I have available. Everything gets washed whether root or leaf borne harvest. My thoughts would be if you have an alternative probably use that, if not then wash it etc.
