I saw this in Lidl and thought of you, or perhaps Kato. Like it! Want one for Kato's crimbo stocking!

A bit of work on the house. A bit of work with the bees. And some work in the garden. Dug out some young gorse in the wild flower area and scattered a few seed balls in the bare patches. And weeded around the fruit trees.

Long walk in the woods with Kato this moning followed by lunch peparation and feading time fo me and him!
This aftenoon chopped up a load of 'scrounged' wood and brought indoors for burning laterr, in case it cools down?
Positioned some small canes in spots I would like to plant out some rudbeckia plants I bought as plugs and potted on into 4 inch pots. The roots have spread out to fill the pots so its time to plant out. I don't know whether they drop there leaves ompletely in winter? so I have piut canes beside them so that I know whee they are if they do! I only planted out three as othe three need to grow on a bit.
It was so nice weather that I sat on my directors chair on my decking and took my shoes, socks and tee shrit off to get a bit of autumn sunshine to my body and boost my vitamin D uptake. Only sat there half an hour though as I was sweating pofusely.
Just another doggie walk to do now then off to excercise classes this evening.

Dug out some more gorse and rushes from the wild flower area and sown (thrown ) the rest of the seed balls ( my birthday present) into the cleared areas. Also weeded around fruit trees and gave them a nicely rotted manure mulch.

Nothing much outdoors.
Months ago, I stored some fresh woodchip in a few big bucket/tubs and, as you do, I put some potatoes in the woodchip to see what happened. I emptied one tub today. Very pleased to find some decent size potatoes in very good condition. An experiment I will repeat.
Collected some windfall pears, and picked some. They're huge on this tree - and its its first real year for cropping.

Sowed broad beans in modules. Lined two 30ltr tubs with wool insulation (to hold water and to stop the compost falling through the holes in the base). Emptied a tub of potatoes and split the compost between these 2 tubs. I'll mix in some coir and chicken manure, then decide what to sow in them. They're in GH1 to warm up.
Cut down some brambles and pulled up montbretia in Strip 2/Middle Earth.

Its Wormsday, so I had a chat with the Worms, and shredded a load of paper for the Hotbin and other compost bins. Picked some pears, sealing waxed the stalks, wrapped them in newspaper and packed them in a box.
Didn't do much in the garden, too cold for comfort. However, my Chiltern Seeds order arrived so I played with them instead.

Started again with the tidy up after a storm. This time Amy. Lots more cutting back. Pulling up and weeding. Collected some seeds.

Nothing in the garden. Shopping then vaccinations, flu for me, flu and covid for himself.
