I haven't seen many wasps this year? Have you?
Apparently, there aren't as many as usual....

Same as butterflies. Hardly any around. It’s not a good sign.

Last year the raspberries were devasted by wasps, this year no wasps at all. We've had the odd one or two buzzing around the house but none to be a nuisance. We had a few hornets in early spring which was unusual.

On the radio today they were talking about the Big Wasp Survey https://www.bigwaspsurvey.org/ now in its 8th year!
Prof Adam Hart who is part of the Wasp team said that the shortage of wasps this year may be because of all the rain that we had earlier this year.

There was a wasp in the greenhouse today - haven't seen many this year though.

Having said there was not many wasps I had to help two out of the kitchen yesterday, of course it might just have been one who was really persistent
