After the attack of the fungus gnats, I only had one surviving courgette plant which I though would be enough. But it has produced only four nice, normal courgettes and then completely stopped. There is no growing point at all and it has been completely inert like this for a few weeks. The leaves are now starting to die off; I've never seen anything like it before!

That's a sad looking plant. My bet is something go to the roots. It looks like it's dying so I'd investigate the roots n see if they've been munched off

The weird thing is that there is no growing point - it hasn't been slugged or nibbled off, the plant simply stops where I cut the last 2 courgettes!! It is smooth and undamaged. And the plant didn't collapse in the heat last week, either, so I don't think roots are the problem (unusually for Vole Villas!).
Maybe it'll shoot again.

The leaves look very leathery which is normally a sign of blindness, strange as you have already harvested from the plant

Thanks - I'd not heard of blindness, but it is a perfect description! Off for a read.

It's alive! New growth is coming up from underneath, with one male flower so far. Fingers crossed for an Indian summer.
