Interesting article about what an allotment has meant during Covid https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-57438179
What do you think?

Very close to home for us. We sent photos of her plot in bloom to one of our site neighbors during the early Covid days when she was advised to shield. Our plot also looked more tidy than usual last year since we had time when my husband was furloughed and in the absence of being able to visit my family in the US. We were very grateful for our allotment over the last year.

At certain times of the year a holiday is out of the question as the garden needs daily care. So I suppose the vote goes to allotment. During the first lockdown when everyone was bemoaning the fact they couldn't go out we were loving the good weather in the garden. I did miss our booked holiday in September when the growing season eased though. I wouldn't want to choose between the two, I want both!

Not an allotment, but my garden certainly got more attention last year than in previous years. But being able to talk to allotment neighbours, even at a distance must have given great comfort to those who could not work but did not have to shield at home.

I was just about to download the same link from the BBC website.
Our allotments have a huge waiting list but I very rarely see anyone when I am there? Deffo no families only old farts like myself. I am usually the only person on-site.
I agree with a lot of the things mentioned in the article.....but not all.
