Why would you want to? I can understand people climbing Everest "Because it's there" but do you think you will be six times healthier with 30 as opposed to 5 vegetables a day!
If it's a quest or something from your bucket list then so be it, but all those vegetables, full of anti-nutrients and fibre will play havoc with yor digestive tract! It woud probably kill me! Rolleyes

I've made a list of the veg/fruit/herbs I grow and pick to see if I can reach 30.
My challenge to myself is to eat some of all of these plants in a week. Starting tomorrow. Big Grin

You could make soup that would use most if not all of those 30 plants.   Big Grin

Vinny, you and i are poles apart when it comes to what we feel is good for us and our conscience so I'm not going to discuss the merits of eating dead flesh, loaded with antibiotics  versus eating plants grown in my garden. As we keep saying - each to their own.

There's also a woman on the telly telling us to eat our food in a particular order and have savoury breakfasts to avoid glucose spikes. Some say don't eat after 6pm, another says starve for two days a week. If you listen to everyone tellig us what or what not to eat or do I'm sure we'd eliminate all foodstuffs and starve. I'm off to eat something highly processed and chemical laden. I wonder what's the worst thing I can find? Big Grin

Protein diet - a short life but a happy one, eh, Vinny?

RE: Five or Ten a Day - do you? - Veggie - 16-01-2025

The main reason why I awoke this thread was my amazement at realising how many different edible plants there are in the garden in January - a month when everything looks dead or dormant. Absolutely nothing to do with what is the best diet - we all have different opinions on that!!
Really, I would have liked you all to wander around your garden/allotment and see how many edible plants you can find in January. Its not too late to play. Big Grin

! don't believe that, I have had my three score years and ten? Sarcoperia is problematic in the aged (loss of muscle) and protein builds muscle. I am more muscular now than I was in my twenties unlike a lot of people my age. I am happy with my fitness  (take no medication) and body composition as well. Without meat and protein intake our brains wouldn't be the size they are now and we would still be swinging in the trees (sounds fun actually!) Our digestive system  is similar to dogs, wolves, cats which are all cafnivore and we are hyper carnivore (70% meat) using tools rather than teeth or claws. We haven't got a rumen or multiple stomachs to digest /fermet vegtable matter annd get rid of toxins and anti nutrients from the vegtables! They can't run away so their only defence  is to add toxins to try and save from being eaten.Pesticides also are slowly poisoning us as well.
If I am still about at 80 or 90 ? maybe you would say "Whey ya bugger, maybe auld Vinny had a point?" Big Grin

Each to there own! Rolleyes
