Where's the cheapest coir this year?
£43.50 for 5 x 75L blocks from Elixir Garden Supplies on eBay (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364252669050) - ordering 5 single blocks is currently ~£4.50 cheaper than a 5 pack (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/385604672284).

Or £43.49 for 5 x 80L blocks from Coir Products off Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Coir-Potting-Mix-5kg-Pack/dp/B0CTMHR3HC).

It would be interesting to see if the Coir Products blocks are actually 5L bigger than the standard 75L ones. They also seem to package their blocks in cardboard rather than plastic shrink wrap, so I will probably order from them next time.

I ordered the elixer (5x 75L) . I actually ordered via amazon not eBay. The bar stewards wouldn’t deliver to me. But luckily my friend was visiting so I had it sent to her. Obviously you’ll be fine as you live in civilisation. Turned my first block into compost yesterday. It seems pretty good.

Calld at Poundland today and bought another couple of boxes of 'Shake & rake' flower seeds  One is Scented blooms Cottage garden mix and the other is a Butterfly & Bee wildlife garden shaker.

Thats four lots I have now so I was thinking like Balrick "I have a cunning plan"

I will still sow some in a bed alongside my house but the only things I eat from the allotment are basically alliums, and I only use them for flavouring rather than a vegeable! The space I have there would be too big to grow alliums alone, so why not grow flowers? It would pretty up the allotment and  give me cut flowers for the home! Cool
I will still keep the beds and paths system that I have created there and only grow enough alliums for my use! (been to plot today and pulled up some red and white onions to use  that I had purposely left in situ.) I will do this in fuure as well. I have onions, garlic and elephant garlic growing away nicely and I  may let some of the alliums set seed on purpose for the architectural beauty of their seed heads?
The main problem I have with these mixed flower seeds is differentiating the flowers from the weeds at an early age.I am wonderig whether I should sow them in trays of sterile compost then I know whatever germinates is NOT a weed! Big Grin

Got 3 packets of seeds from the seed swap. And brought a half dozen seed potatoes.

Lidl-diddle is getting in the fruit and nut trees next week, along with a lot of goodies for the gardens. I can't wait! I'm aiming to buy one walnut, one hazelnut, one pear tree and at least one hydrangea. I had to leave all my beautiful hydrangeas behind when we moved.

Hopefully they're getting some raspberries in too soon. The sooner I can get them in the ground....

Spent £4.80 on 6 (YS) Paperwhite narcissus planting kits. Ended up with 30 bulbs, 6 small bags of compost and 6 plastic lined wicker baskets, which I don't need.

RE: 2025 - Seeds and stuff I've bought or acquired - Small chilli - 11-03-2025

Got a big bag of coffee grounds and a bag of egg shells from the cafe

The Veggie disease must be very infectious.
