RE: Pumpkins - storage and uses - Mark_Riga - 06-11-2022 When doing mashed potatoes, I often boil with a chunk of squash/pumpkin and some leek, generally in a pressure cooker. Any liquid left from cooking is used making gravy. This is one of mine (the dark green one) - hopefully it was eaten subsequently [attachment=5595] RE: Pumpkins - storage and uses - Veggie - 07-11-2022 [attachment=5596] The Moneyless Chicken is collecting these today. Don't people realise that they're edible?? RE: Pumpkins - storage and uses - Small chilli - 07-11-2022 Nice. You going to save some seeds? . RE: Pumpkins - storage and uses - Veggie - 07-11-2022 Probably not saving seeds for growing as they're likely to have crossed with others. Of course, I may just scatter them randomly somewhere. RE: Pumpkins - storage and uses - Small chilli - 07-11-2022 And not saving them to grow does mean you have more to eat . RE: Pumpkins - storage and uses - Veggie - 07-11-2022 I like to dry/shallow fry them until they pop. Some are chewier than others - its a few years since I've had some seeds to pop. One thing I've learned in the last few days - pumpkins in photos look much larger than they are in the flesh. Wish I could say the same. Is it the sort of cake that tastes even better spread with butter? My mum says it's definitely better spread with butter. Me, I hate butter on cake. Butter is for toast. |
