RE: Squash/pumpkin recommendations - Veggie - 01-06-2022 A question for the growers of Uchiki Kuri (You cheeky Kurry)......... Do they sprawl everywhere or are they compact plants - or do they clamber? I have about 8 plants and can't decide where or how close to plant them. Thank you. RE: Squash/pumpkin recommendations - JJB - 01-06-2022 I think it's a sprawler, or at least I hope so, as I've planted one to grow up the climbing frame with the trombas RE: Squash/pumpkin recommendations - Veggie - 01-06-2022 So you think it will climb, Jen? RE: Squash/pumpkin recommendations - Broadway - 02-06-2022 I am planning to grow mine over an old blow away greenhouse frame, I stress planning RE: Squash/pumpkin recommendations - Jimny14 - 02-06-2022 I think it could certainly be encouraged to climb, though I've never done it, I generally just let em sprawl where they want among the beans, spuds etc. RE: Squash/pumpkin recommendations - Veggie - 02-06-2022 Thanks everyone - so far Jimny's is the winning technique - the "sprawl". I've no idea how big/heavy these squash grow and whether they'd need hammocks! My last year's one went for miles underneath the sweetcorn so I'm hoping it will put up with being tied in to supports semivertically. As far as hammocks, mine only grew to baby's head size maybe a bit bigger https://www.sowseeds.co.uk/blogs/sow-seeds-blog/growing-squash-vertically |
