It was a very half-hearted try and failed miserably. I'm not a fan of turnips and it sounds like a turnip with legs!I would call it more of a sweet cabbage taste? I once made the mistake of making broth with it and parsnips as the base . It was like a soup with added sugar! Nice by itself though and quite unusual. RE: Kohlrabi - Admin - 01-06-2021 I also think it has a cabbage taste...a bit like the heart RE: Kohlrabi - Can the Man - 01-06-2021 (01-06-2021, 09:04 AM)Small chilli Wrote: Here you go Can.Thanks SC but I don’t like the sound of it so won’t be growing it. RE: Kohlrabi - toomanytommytoes - 22-06-2021 I'd forgotten what kohl rabi tasted like but having eaten a few of this year's crop I really like it. Crisp, juicy, sweet and tender with a melon-like taste and slight brassica heat. The variety is Olivia F1 and it was harvested at the cricket/softball stage. It has been much quicker to grow than the purple variety beside it. My preference is to have it in small chunks or sticks in a salad where it adds a nice crunch. |
