Excuse me coming up with a nutty question but, its raining, and I've been thinking!
Bear with me .........if I sowed a different type of seed every day of the year it would be 365/6 different plants..........which got me wondering just how many different plants/varieties I do sow.
From there I wondered how many different plants I eat during a year........
I don't have any answers to these questions but wondered whether you have any answers based on your own experience.

Last august/ September I planted my camelia in a newly made raised bed. They’re not happy. Not flowered. One is going a bit yellow. This one has never done well, since I bought it. The other looks ok, it produced buds. They fell off. What do I need to add to the soil to help them recover? 
I know the stuff I used to fill that bed wasn’t the best of anything   . My hellebore isn’t happy either, but lupins, and crazy daisy chrysanthemum are doing well. And tulips are all coming (still don’t know if they’ll flower).

Never throw a leek stump away! If the base is intact, with roots, cut off the bottom inch or so and replant. 
No base, no roots - no worry!! Shop bought leeks are often trimmed - as are the ones I get FREE! Trim off the bottom inch or so and put it in a little water, not too much or the leek will rot. Here are some I prepared earlier - about 3 days ago!

I'll give them a few more days in their pots to let the roots grow more, then plant them in my permanent leek bed - where all rejuvenated leeks live. They usually produce side leeks.  Some I cut off and use, leaving the stumps in situ, the rest are left to flower and self seed.

I've intended to grow Soapwort for a while, even have some seeds ready for sowing.

I've been thinking about growing Flax for the edible seeds and today, at the Seed Swap I acquired some Flax Seeds. Interestingly, there is a local project to grow Flax to make Linen and the seeds that I have are from this project. I didn't know there was such a project but I'm intrigued now. If I can grow it, harvest the seeds and donate the plants for processing I will. There's no hope of me doing the processing! But I'll be keeping watch on how the Project gets on.

The conclusion seems to be that harvesting the little blighters is the problem. 
Has anyone tried growing lentils? 
I may try some in a pot, rather than in the ground, so that they're easier to harvest.

Interesting article about a commercial salad leaf "farm". Puts my 3 light gadget into the shade, literally.

I've been wondering whether I can start seeds (in pots) inside the Hotbin, using it like a heated propagator - or a Hot bed.

Today, I've sown 6 mangetout peas in 4 identical pots, filled with the same compost mix (mostly coir). 
Pot 1 is inside a sealed plastic bag, inside the Hot Bin  which is in GH 1
Pot 2 is under a clear plastic supermarket tray in GH1
Pot 3 is uncovered, alongside Pot 2, in GH1
Pot 4 is in my bedroom!

Which one will germinate first?
