While boiling up potatoes today I wondered what I could add to them to make them more tasty, ofcourse there are the usual salt, pepper, brown sauce or red sauce, if it's mashed potato you can add butter or milk, but what else can be added to lift the taste of potatoes
Chopped Jalapenos or chives for me. Smile
Horseradish, lovely on cottage pie.
Another one for horseradish
Cheese and mustards nice on mash.
Cooked with chopped up Carrots and leeks before mashing.
Mint.
Olive oil instead of butter.
Grainy mustard in the mash.
A whole clove of garlic in the boiling water.
A sprinkle of garam masala or ras el hanout when shallow frying.
I love spuds Smile
Another vote for Whole grain mustard in mash. Leeks in mash is nice as well.
Celery salt added to homemade oven chips before cooking.
I love chopped parsley on mashed potatoes maybe chopped chives as well.
My favourite is to make Colcannon by adding chopped curly kale and lots of salty butter and a few twists of black pepper.
