Door no 1 - campanula persicfolia (peach leaved bellflower)
No 1 - Thymus capitata/Persian Hyssop/Conehead Thyme.

"From dry heaths and rocky places all round the sunny Mediterranean comes this quite delightful little aromatic shrublet. With small, narrow, stiff leaves neatly arranged along the somewhat spiny stems, it bears all summer into autumn conical spikes of pretty, purplish-pink flowers. Sometimes used as a condiment, the plant is also a source of an essential oil used to flavour such diverse foods as baked goods and ice cream. Since antiquity herbalists have found much medicinal value in it. 10ins (25cm)"

My door no. 1, when I get outside, will be:

Sweet Pea, Spencer mixed old seed sow by 2015, so I don't hold out much hope of germination.

The advent doors are unlikely to be random as most of my ornamental pkts are half hardy annuals and there is no point sowing them in the cold GH which will be going down to 0° or less. So I will randomly choose from a selected few ornamentals and veg that might survive the cold.
Door No. 1 Shiso Perilla frutescens

The seed is old and didn't germinate in the summer!
I bought the seed a couple of years ago when every cook on TV or in the paper, and every restaurant seemed to be using it.
It grew very well but I was deeply unimpressed!!
I wish you all well growing your advent calendar Smile
^^^^ Party pooper Tongue
Day 2 - Averrhoa Carambola - - Star Fruit - those strange star shaped fruits that always seemed to be in Chinese restaurant meal.
Think I may have to wait a long time for this 26' tree to grow.Wink

Touch sensitive leaves sound fun though!! https://www.chilternseeds.co.uk/item_160...bola_seeds
My day 2 is very boring in comparison.
Mixed salad leaves.
Behind Door No. 2 I have sown Pansies - pensées géantes de Suisses to be exact.
I've never yet managed to get them to germinate and as they should be summer sown ...
My no. 2 door never got opened until this evening Sad and it's all dark outside so there's no way I'm plodding up the garden to sow anything tonight. I will take it up tomorrow and sow it with door no. 3.
If you're interested it's chicorium electric blue - wild chicory. A freebie pkt of seed from a mag, if it germinates it can grow to 4ft, probably not going to be given room.
