I have a dictionary by my bed (well, doesn't everyone?) If I come across a word when reading in bed that I've not met before or can't remember the meaning  of I look it up.
Now, I don't expect this to be an everyday occurrence but if we post any words that  crop up that are unusual we could see whether they are strange to each other and maybe spark a conversation.

A recent word I had to look up was

CONTRAPUNTAL

without googling anyone  know what it means?

Perhaps we ought to explain the context too. I read this in relation to a heartbeat.

Another word that flummoxed OH the other evening was

APPURTENANCES

In relation to dismantling a steam engine and all its appurtenances.

Alternatively we could think up (real) words that might stump the rest of us which we could guess the meaning without the use of the internet
Contrapuntal sounds like Counterpoint - the opposite thingy that balances summat/
Appurtenances are all the associated bits and pieces - I think I've come across it in old wills where someone leaves and item/property and all its appurtenances.
Exactly right V. Initially I verbalised contrapuntal similarly to contraption, but got my head around it and as you say it's all about counterpoint.
I'll have to think up some more.
Here's another one

GNOMIC

this stumped me. It was a comment on my son's art homework several years ago, referring to his rendition of the Mona Lisa
I know contrapuntal from music (a piece of music with two melodies played at the same time), appurtenances I didn't know but would guess it had the same root as apparatus.
Gnomic I've heard of as in gnome like, or when referred to speech or a saying meaning that it seems to sound wise but you dont understand it.
Here's one for people to ponder that I learnt through my work.

Saggital.
I'm guessing it summat to do with teeth or jaws - maybe the bite?

Yep sorry veggie, not teeth related.
