Had to have a Google.  I now know what a snath is.  Wasn't too far out in my totally random guess.
Now back to the drawing board for the next one, if you want to continue?
The difficulty is in finding words that are not too obscure but are likely to be known by someone.
I may have mentioned OH is in the process of reading Railway Magazines from 1950's and earlier. The language used is hugely different, far more so than I would have expected.

Another word he came across was PEREGRINATION.
I know that one - its raptor country. Smile

It sounds like the hawk equivalent of Monkey World, doesn't it?
Snath is a new word to me, but I know peregrination, which I think is a lovely word.

I like this one too -
Timoneer
Timoneer is a new one to me. I had to look it up. Thanks Moth. Now I have to remember it!
I have to confess I can never remember it - I suppose because I never have occasion to use it - so I have it written down on my desk. I do that with all new words I like until I remember them.
Here is one for you, "pruch"
Another one I'm going to have to look up.
I have read pruch somewher, is it a Scotish word?
