You've just reminded me it needs re-potting so I have just done that!
I have still left the original avocado stone close to the top of the pot but ideally I could bury it to hide the lack of growth at the bottom. Problem is it might rot the stem?
Will take photo later when I go watering.
This one didn’t do well over winter. Brown dead patches and som rot. so I chopped it down. It’s com back beautifully.

They both generally always loose their leaves over winter. But think I might chop this one down next spring too, he’s getting a bit leggy.

Knowing how well they respond to a haircut now, I’ll not be so worried about it.
I'm being given an avocado plant today from a lady who has lots. This is her germination method:-
"I peel the brown skin off then wrap them in wet paper and put them in a plastic butter box in a cupboard and forget about them. They all eventually split and grow roots."
I like the "forget about them" advice.
Oh that’s a method I’ve not tried. I’ll try that next time I’ve got an avocado. Thanks
Mine is enjoying his summer hols on the decking outdoors!
A strange thing I found out about avocados today in the canteen at lunchtime. Apparently humans are the only living being that eat avocado, animals don’t. Has anybody found this out previously?
