Mulled wine recipe

Ours was summat like that but definitely not port. We use to bring back cheap fruit liqueurs from holiday, specifically for mulled wine. Probably still have some in the back of the cupboard
Don't try to drink mulled wine with slices of fruit and cinnamon stick in your glass - you'll get in a bit of a mess.
We used to make it in a big jam pan, kept warm on the hob, with a soup ladle to dish it up with. 
Our New Year's Day tradition was a trip to the beach, a bracing walk, a picnic and a flask of mulled wine. We did this with friends for years, whatever the weather.
