Mulled wine recipe - Small chilli - 14-12-2020

Does anyone make their own mulled wine?
I’ve got lots of wine in at the moment so was going to make my own. Lots of recipes on the interweb that look good.
A tried and tested one would be marvellous.

We always use to make it for Boxing Day when it was open house for the neighbours and friends to pop in. Can't remember the exact recipe but it was cheap red wine, a sweet liqueur like cointreau, sugar, slices of orange and ?cinnamon/nutmeg, all heated up in a big pan and we had little heatproof glasses with handles IIRC.
The main thing is to keep tasting it as you make it. Smile

Thanks veggie. That’s very similar to recipe I’ve bookmarked, because it sounded good.

There might have been some brandy in there too!

We'll all be round to yours then, SC? You can't possibly be allowed to have too much wine. Smile

Ours was summat like that but definitely not port. We use to bring back cheap fruit liqueurs from holiday, specifically for mulled wine. Probably still have some in the back of the cupboardSmile
Don't try to drink mulled wine with slices of fruit and cinnamon stick in your glass - you'll get in a bit of a mess.
We used to make it in a big jam pan, kept warm on the hob, with a soup ladle to dish it up with.
Our New Year's Day tradition was a trip to the beach, a bracing walk, a picnic and a flask of mulled wine. We did this with friends for years, whatever the weather.

I’ve always done the mulled wine Christmas Eve. Never made my own , it’s always been the cheap brought stuff. Used to have it for tea break and lunch in the run up to Christmas where I used to work ( not a lot got done that week  Big Grin ).

Then you stripped off and jumped into the sea semi-naked? Big Grin
