RE: New greenhouse - this may take some time and you might get bored - JJB - 25-05-2020 We often search for Anglo Saxon arrowheads, but no luck yet . If you remember Time Team, the archeology series, you might recall one of the resident archeologists was Phil Harding, who is a local chap around here. His specialty is flint knapping and he was always on the lookout for knapped bits of flint. Being around Stonehenge and Roman roads I'm always hopeful of finding something The bigguns are useful for holding down tarp compost covers, hammering when I can't be bothered to find a hammer., and holding down the tops of stone bags to stop the rain getting in. Shame there's no rain. RE: New greenhouse - this may take some time and you might get bored - JJB - 01-06-2020 The delivery date for new greenhouse is 23rd June. Then the fun starts, I don't underestimate the hassle involved in erecting it. The last one we did was decades ago, we've lost a lot of brain cells since then . Yippee! RE: New greenhouse - this may take some time and you might get bored - JJB - 23-06-2020 IT'S BEEN DELIVERED! A bit of an anticlimax really, I want it up and ready to use.... NOW! Paul is in the process of figuring out what next, I think I'll remain quiet as a mouse whilst the planning is in progress . The arguments can wait until work on site starts. Finding a safe, flat, indoor space for all the toughened glass to lean against was a bit challenging. Watch this space....... RE: New greenhouse - this may take some time and you might get bored - Can the Man - 23-06-2020 Good luck Paul RE: New greenhouse - this may take some time and you might get bored - SarrissUK - 23-06-2020 Oh that'll be like a 3D jigsaw won't it! I've only ever put together second hand greenhouses, and I can't imagine what a challenge a new one would be!! Good luck! RE: New greenhouse - this may take some time and you might get bored - Veggie - 23-06-2020 Read the instructions. Check you have all the parts - don't start without all of them. Read the instructions again. Go to sleep. Next day, read the instructions and make sure you understand the process. Find a friend who understands the instructions. JJB, go out for the day. Did you get a rhino? RE: New greenhouse - this may take some time and you might get bored - JJB - 26-06-2020 Sorry all, missed all the answers to this thread somehow. Scarlet - no didn't get a Rhino, guilt took over about the expense so opted for a Simplicity shugborough, a high eaves model, only 8x6 but that's all the sensible room available. Veggie - I'll go on holiday for the week I think. Seriously though he's incredibly capable and I have no doubt we'll succeed. Currently the base is built up and P is ensuring everything is level and square. He hasn't wanted my help yet. Had to get some blocks to support the base when I was needed to drive to builders yard (P doesn't drive) Might be starting the jigsaw soon. Will take pics when there's something to see. One minor problem was missing bits ordered as extra but that's all being delivered today so all ok. |
