I am in full swing sowing seeds, and a LOT of it is from our seed circle here.

I came across a packet this morning, one of those triangular ones that have been folded out of a piece of paper. The label has rubbed off onto something else, so I have no idea what they are.

So, join me in this mystery collaborative. The evidence are as following:
The seed packet was folded out of a gardeners world magazine.
The seeds are black beans with a little white dot on the belly.
Google searches come up with black beans/turtle beans.
Search on this forum doesn't bring up any seed circle posts that mention turtle or black beans.

I will hold off sowing them, as it's only just February.
The plot thickens.

Any commercial seeds (part or full packets) with a sow by date of 2023 or later, accepted. Also, saved seeds that weren't in the recent swap.
Seeds to be sent to me before 14th April and sent back during April so that there's still time to sow them.
As before, if you send in 20 packets (all different) you'll receive 20 random packets back. Just an example, you can send in however many you like and I'll try to send the same number back - no guarantees though if you send lots!
Put your names on the packets so that they're not sent back to you.
Seal opened packets well - I hate it when an envelope contains loose, unidentifiable seeds (they go to a random patch somewhere in the garden).

Not quite sure how this has happened but I’ve been roped in to organising a seed swap table on the 11th March . As part of a potato day. Both a first for mull as far as I know. Certainly since I’ve been on mull.

So I’m thinking
Baskets of seeds on a table and people just bring say 10 packets and choose 10 others ( very similar to our swaps )

Was going to have flowers, brassicas, legumes, roots, salad, tomatoes, cucurbits, alliums, herbs, others .
And a basket of out of date that people can take as many as they like.

Also seeds can be full or part packets and self saved.

Do I need to do anything else?
Want to keep it as simple as possible!! For my benefit mostly .

How do I get a stock of seeds to start the ball rolling? Obviously my seed will be in the baskets, but not sure I’ll have enough. Was going to ask on the local gardening group but if they donate them they won’t have any to swap. Because it’ll be all the same people probably.

Vertical Veg (Mark Ridsdill Smith) runs a seed swap on FB.

Has anyone ever joined it or knows how it operates please? I'm curious how it can work!

From what I can gather, you pay some money (£6 +) and you're emailed a spreadsheet on which you list the seeds that you have to swap. All these lists are amalgamated and sent to all swappers who choose the seeds they want from the list. Once the list requests are over, the swapper packs their seeds individually for each requester and sends all the packs to Vertical Veg who shuffles them around and sends them back to the requesters.

My initial thought is what if I only have 10 beans to swap and 20 people want them? Who decides who has the beans and what about the 19 people who won't receive any?

I really can't understand how this swap takes place so, if you know, please tell me.
