To save you reading it, the 14 best CACA flowers are:-
Zinnias
Cosmos
Dahlias
Sweet Peas
Strawflowers
Statice
Gomphrena
Amaranth
Phlox
Marigold (Tagetes)
Celosia
Scabiosa
Nasturtium
Cornflower

I rarely cut flowers from the garden as I prefer to see them growing outdoors. Cutting flower heads off seems so ungrateful !! I might cut flowers from a shrub that wouldn't miss a few flowers but otherwise I only pick damaged flowers, like the daffodils that have snapped off in the wind.
Maybe, if I grow CACA flowers, I could convince myself that I'm not being ungrateful!!

I remember because I always had to have my photo taken next to it to show how tall it was or how short I was . I’ve grown a couple in the past. Really wanted to grow another one. So while Bob was collecting a miss placed order from Oban (don’t ask) on Friday. I got him to get one from Lidl for me.
It’s going to be a miracle if it survives the dogs tail or doesn’t grow so tall that it’s squashed against the caravan ceiling.
Here it is
I’m measuring how much it grows each day. Yesterday it had grown 4cm. It now stands at 28cm. I think that’s a centimetre taller over night.

The other thing I’m expecting to happen. Is it to flower while I’m away for a couple of days the middle of next month.
Anyone else growing amaryllis?

A couple of years ago I was given 2 boxes of sunflower seeds for sprouting. They are black seeds and I don't know what type of sunflowers they are. My best guess is that they are oil seed sunflowers of some sort. https://oggardenonline.com/which-variety...seeds.html
However, putting a name to them doesn't really matter as I have a cunning plan.
1. First make sure they're viable.
2. Sow them! Perhaps as part of a 3/4 sisters combination with sweetcorn, beans and squash
Assuming they grow, they will produce :-

Supports of beans
Flowers for the house and wildlife
Seeds for winter bird seed (and oil but that seems too much faff)
Seeds for sprouting next winter.
Lots of biomass for composting.

Guess I'd better try sprouting some seeds first.

I am going to try selling sweet peas this year, but I'm unsure how to price them. Generally, I undercut the big online gardening companies and garden centres because I think they're overpriced. I've done a bit of research and the online companies sell them in modules of 6, 10 or 12 cells. A lot of them are multi sown, so you get 3 or 4 plants in each cell.

So I'm thinking of sowing 3 to a cell in 10 cell modules, but I don't know how much to charge. How much would you pay for 30 sweet pea plants? The range online seems to be between 50p and £2 per cell - £20 for a 10 cell module seems way too much, even though it would get you a lot of plants, and £5 seems more reasonable.

I have lots of hydrangeas in pot all together. Waiting to go in the cottage garden as a hedge.
I notice a couple of days ago a small head of lovely blue very small spiky (star like) flowers. Wish I’d photographed it then. Because this morning I noticed that lovely blue completely different shaped flowers was actually part of a plant with the usual big head rounded petals and pink!
Definitely the same plant. I checked it wasn’t too in the same pot.
Any ideas?

Can anyone tell me what’s going on with this hydrangea?
I have lots of hydrangeas in pot all together. Waiting to go in the cottage garden as a hedge.
I notice a couple of days ago a small head of lovely blue very small spiky (star like) flowers. Wish I’d photographed it then. Because this morning I noticed that lovely blue completely different shaped flowers was actually part of a plant with the usual big head rounded petals and pink!

This area behind the post box. Is getting fenced, because the sheep & deer haven’t read the RHS website saying they don’t eat daffodils . I’ve got quite a few foxgloves in there as well. I’m going to add more . I now need to grow lots of other things in there so there’s some all year round interest. But because it’s already planted with a huge number of daffodils I need things I can grow from seed so I can plant small things without disturbing or damaging the bulbs. I need it to look after its self , fight off weeds because it won’t be that easy to get into once it’s fenced.
I’m thinking shorter plants so they don’t fall over in the wind, but open to any suggestions.
This year all I did was strim it once. Because the only thing in there was grass and rushes and the foxglove seed heads.
I’ve added a thick layer of wood chip. To hopefully help suppress some of the weeds. I’ll add more once fence is up because it is a favourite spot for dogs to stand and say hi to our 2 hooligans. So a lot of the wood chip has been moved.
Would planting annuals every year after the daffodils work ? Would you go with perennials?
It’s kinda the first thing people see. So needs to be loud and impressive. Now I’ll settle for more impressive than wood chip & weeds.
