How do you store your plant labels? I’m just interested. I sorted mine yesterday and changed how I store them.
Before yesterday I kept them in an old whiskey bottle gift tin. They were then split into categories and bundled together with elastic bands.
Now they’re still in the same tin. I’ve sectioned the tin now so no more snapping elastic bands. And I’ve added a couple more categories to reduce the search time.
Flower labels have their own container and so do new and cleaned for reuse labels.

So what do you do with yours? And do you have a huge amount?
I was very surprised how many I’d actually got. I cleaned 117 for reuse yesterday

Its cold so I've been playing with seed packets (again).
I've found a few different types of "Cress" :- Plain, Curled, Fine curled, Curly, Extra Curled, Iranian/Persian, Greek. (Land cress and Water cress too but I'm not counting those this time).
How much difference there is between these, I know not! They all seem to be recommended for growing the same way. Trays on windowsills sort of thing.
BUT what are the adult plants like. What would happen if they were left to grow, flower, seed and so on. How quickly would they re-seed? What do they look like as mature plants? Are they invasive like Bittercress?

I asked the Duckduck who came up with some interesting info about Persian Cress - as well as being edible its also useful for flower arrangements and can be used fresh or dried. It grows faster than wrinkled cress which is also used in arrangements. https://www.seedaholic.com/lepidium-sati...cress.html
My new patio is nearly done! Photos soon.
It looks a little like a helicopter pad at the moment.

I absolutely hate pots I'm not good at watering but I really want this to look amazing so I will up my game and it will be an area that I pop out to often.

I will grow some herbs in pots but would like some colour on there too...food or flowers.

What do you grow that works well if cared for.
I won't have hundreds of pots - I don't want lovely rat runs/hiding spots.
I have rosemary and my Christmas tree ready from last year!

What trees work well for you?

#and I have an above ground pond / hoping to collect my 8ft cattle trough tomorrow. It won't be for fish - just a few plants and some kind of water feature

IF (big IF) I've understood Charles Dowding's "No Dig" method correctly, he top dresses all his beds with a 2" layer of compost every year.........and that's it - apart from some stuff about cow's horns and stirring of cauldrons.
My Question for the G&G Panel is :-
Would a 2" layer of compost on top of a container of MPC that has been used for growing tomatoes enable you to grow another crop in it next year (I don't mean lettuce but something like cucumbers or carrots)?

For the record, I normally empty the MFBs onto the GH beds and grow salad leaves in that but, every year, I buy bags of compost to fill them for the tomatoes and cukes.
I know you're going to say "Try it and see" but I'm interested in your thoughts first.

Whilst OH in bed yesterday afternoon I watched this weeks Alan Titchmarsh prog about growing at home.
Normally, it’s background noise while I read but.........

One of the presenters who has a smaller garden than mine (so iris possible) said about a window box to grow scrap veg in.

Eyes glazing over, brain cell kicking it’s stroppy neuron into action and trunk quivering I watched enthralled.

The lady presenter used leek, spring onion, celery and fennel root ends.

Put into glasses and left to root. She did say as she planted them into her window box she didn’t know what would happen once in compost.

This is my experiment.

Like many people I don’t have much space in my tiny garden for my fruit and veg.
I thought I’d show a few of my ideas in the hope that it’s gives others a bit of inspiration or encourages them to share their ideas.

The tatties are Charlottes and one per pot. I was pleasantly surprised how many a small pot can hold.
The shoe storage things have sugar snap peas in because I’m a great believer in what grows up will also grow down.
The hanging baskets are mixed spicy leaf and mini gem lettuce in one and spinach and radish in the other two.

I promise they are the right way up if you click on the pics.
