I've been offered the large part of a 100l bag of landscaping bark but told its very heavy.
Now some people's version of "very heavy" varies so, can anyone tell me in pounds or even kilos, what to expect  when I go to pick it up tomorrow please.

Also no idea.
Couldn’t you take empty compost bags and split it so you move a few manageable bags rather than one back breaker .

Depends how dry the bark is. I bought three 100L bags and was able to carry them short distances (including up my steps) on my own but it definitely wasn't easy! Lighter than 100L of compost though.
Formerly self-contained, but expanding my gardening horizons beyond pots!

That sounds hopeful, Pros. Thanks. I'm hoping I can park outside the house and its a case of lifting it into the car. Of course, if there's nowhere to park, it'll be a problem!!
Going to take a trug, so that I can decant some of it if its too heavy to manage. It was too good an offer to refuse. Big Grin

It's amazing what you can carry if you are getting summat for nowt! Big Grin

I am reminded of a farm hand i worked with who was offered half a pig  when they were culling them. He carried that half pig on his back for 5 mile to his home rather than say no! Rolleyes (And no, it wasn't me) Tongue

I'm back with bark - Woof, Woof. Big Grin
Couldn't park outside but across the road and down a bit - not too far. I couldn't have carried the bag easily as the top was open and hugging it round the middle wasn't an option. The lady owner and I lifted the bag between us and tipped some into the trug, She insisted on going to get a "shovel thing" which turned out to be a plastic dustpan and a trowel. We Dustpanned some more bark into the trug, then carried the bag to the car. She insisted on carrying the trug on her own - think she thought I was too old because I told her that I used to go to the primary/junior school further down her street. Used to walk up and down that street 4 times a day and the grocer's shop we've been talking about elsewhere was at the end of it.
