Vegetarian and vegan recipes - Small chilli - 19-01-2021 As a few of you know from another thread I’ve recently watched the David Attenborough life on our planet. One of the changes I intend on making is have at least one vegetarian meal a week. Bob doesn’t know yet, it’ll be a surprise . Yes me ( and him who’s even worse & doesn’t know yet ) , the one who has no issue naturally being an omnivore with very high carnivorous tendencies . So I’d like as many vegetarian or even vegan . I don’t really care what it calls itself as long as it tastes nice. I do have one stipulation. I refuse 110% to eat that meat replacement stuff quorn or any other make/ variety. I’m sorry it might just be me being a bit weird. But I really don’t see the point in meatless sausages, burgers, mince or whatever else they make. I’ll be starting with a veggie lasagna one night this week. As many recipes as you like please. RE: Vegetarian and vegan recipes - Scarlet - 19-01-2021 I like meat, but prefer fish although sometimes taking meat off the plate can be tricky when the OH is gluten free and won't eat rice either and my boys don't eat high carb foods very often, but I often do a bean "thing" ...though you may not fancy those kind of "stew"dinners Both my boys are big bean fans so a bean dish is often in the fridge as a snack - they eat 24/7 when they are here. Substitute meat for beans - I love a bean chilli. Have a look at some of Ottolenghi recipes. He does use meat and fish - but often there are some cracking recipes that don't use either. RE: Vegetarian and vegan recipes - Veggie - 19-01-2021 I haven't eat meat/poultry for about 30 years but I do eat fish, eggs and dairy. Lots of "normal" meals are vegetarian and don't need to be "labelled" - like pizza, pasta, beans on toast, chilli sin carne = red beans, tomatoes, onions and, um, chillies. That split pea dahl I posted earlier - lots more recipes on Hodmedod's site. Never buy fish. Occasionally we’ll buy langoustine & hand dived scallop . That should keep me going for a while. Are they all TMTT tried & tested ? . I regularly have egg fried rice usually with meat . Don’t think I’ve tried that one so that’ll make it all new and exciting. Thank you . RE: Vegetarian and vegan recipes - doublyjonah - 19-01-2021 I wanted to start doing this a year (or more?!) ago and was too lazy to change my ways. I'm inspired to try again. Thanks, SC, and recipe contributors RE: Vegetarian and vegan recipes - toomanytommytoes - 19-01-2021 Made them all except the falafel, which we'll be trying soon. I added some more in an edit. Italian, Greek, Turkish, Mexican and Indian cuisines are my favourite for vegetarian recipes. RE: Vegetarian and vegan recipes - Bren - 19-01-2021 SC I've made that Briam recipe on tomany's links its one of my faves I even submitted it to G&G veg show. Here's a link to a good bean cottage pie https://realfood.tesco.com/step-by-step/how-to-make-a-veggie-cottage-pie.html..
