OMG I'm so excited RE: Flowers beginning with D - Small chilli - 10-11-2020 I would like to grow delphiniums . Never grown them and they look very cottage gardeny & bee friendly RE: Flowers beginning with D - Veggie - 10-11-2020 Scarlet, Queen of Dahlias! It suits you, your Royal Flowerness. I'll be growing Daffodils, especially the Ugly daffodil (cant remember its proper name). Dianthus EDIT - its the Derwydd daffodil https://letterpile.com/personal-essays/The-Ugliest-Daffodil-in-the-World-the-Derwydd and a couple of unnamed dahlias. RE: Flowers beginning with D - Scarlet - 10-11-2020 D is also for Desdemona - a repeat flowing white shrub rose from DA. It should be arriving this week - I've spent lots of time preparing my new border. I've only got a quarter of it done so far ( I'm a bit slow ) but I've also got some plants on the go in the greenhouse to go with them. Also open to other suggestions...it's a big border. RE: Flowers beginning with D - Spec - 10-11-2020 Dandylion, there are several ways you can use dandylion, flower heads infused in oil of your choice for chapped skin, you can add the leaves to a salad, add leaves to vinigar, make coffee with their dried roots and of course you can use them twice, there are various 5hings that they can be used for but most important, as they are early flowering they provide nectar for the bees RE: Flowers beginning with D - Scarlet - 10-11-2020 Oh, yes!! I've a lovely big conker tree in the corner of my garden. I've tried planting tulips before but the roots are too close to the surface. So this year I planted some Tête à Tête underneath. I could only put in on the sides as it's my husbands well worn route when working the dog. I planted 60. Wish I'd got more now. RE: Flowers beginning with D - Scarlet - 10-11-2020 Olive oil & Dandelion for chapped skin - I'm going to look that up RE: Flowers beginning with D - Spec - 10-11-2020 (10-11-2020, 09:47 PM)Scarlet Wrote: D is also for Desdemona - a repeat flowing white shrub rose from DA. Lovely looking rose there Scarlet, but in the past I never got good results with DA roses they never stood up well to bad weather, would like to try them again but don't want to waste my money, have they improved since the late 60s early 70s and yes I agree with you |
