That annual event in December that must not be named potatoes - Mikey - 30-08-2020 So as my daughter is already discussing it and her and her mother are at least 75% ready I realised I’m already behind schedule!!! I should have planted my ********* potatoes a few weeks ago. Ahhh. Have you got yours in yet and if so which are your favourite varieties. I like a mix but for different purposes a few International Kidneys as I love their firm texture as new potatoes for Boxing Day and some Maris peer for roasties and mash. You probably have just about enough time if like me you were a little behind the curve just pop them in the greenhouse to bring them on. RE: That annual event in December that must not be named potatoes - Can the Man - 30-08-2020 I have mine in Mikey, I have Roosters and Pentland Javelin. The roosters are just some that we bought from the shop and were not used, they grew legs so I found a spot in the poly tunnel for them. RE: That annual event in December that must not be named potatoes - Mikey - 30-08-2020 I think there’s nothing nicer than new potatoes picked on ********* day. RE: That annual event in December that must not be named potatoes - JJB - 30-08-2020 BAH HUMBUG! RE: That annual event in December that must not be named potatoes - Veggie - 30-08-2020 Nope and I won't be. RE: That annual event in December that must not be named potatoes - JJB - 30-08-2020 Don't bother growing tatties at all. RE: That annual event in December that must not be named potatoes - Mikey - 30-08-2020 What and miss out on that sweet earthy loveliness gently rolled in mint butter. There is nothing better than a tattie picked, washed and cooked inside of 30 minutes, before the natural sugars have a chance to turn to starch. I bah humbug you pair of grinches.
