Sc not sure what you are going to do with the telegraph poles, but I used the same type of poles for a boundary fence, which has been up for several years, with no deterioration to the poles and they are beside a drainage ditch, which always has water running, I also put a fence up in a dryer area with similar poles but after cutting to length I halfed them length wise which of course gives twice the amount to use, they split easily using a felling axe and heavy hammerSmile

I imagine telegraph posts would be good for gate posts and straining points for wires on the corners of the plot? Huh

Exactly right that man  Smile . They are going to be used as strainers & corner posts. The rest of our posts are going to be metal with stock net on the bottom half and 3 or 4 strands of plain wire on the top, up to deer proofing height. All round the plot the plot.
