Pubs Opening - Broadway - 05-07-2020 Well I visited a couple yesterday just to see the difference, and..... One asked my name and contact details the other didn't..... I didn't see any hand sanitiser but wasn't really looking..... Social distancing, ish..... Busy, about the same for a Saturday afternoon (time was between 1pm - 4pm) Football was on in both, I thought they weren’t showing it??? Summary, the staff and customers were pleasant and doing their best, did I feel like I'd missed the pubs, not really, will I be going back, of course RE: Pubs Opening - Veggie - 05-07-2020 I suppose somebody has to test the system, Danny, and it may as well be you! Even when our pubs in Wales open I won't be going. I'd rather have a drink at home where its cheaper and I can social distance with ease. RE: Pubs Opening - Small chilli - 05-07-2020 I’m with you veggie RE: Pubs Opening - Broadway - 05-07-2020 That's fair enough sadly I've always been a bit of a pub/football monster! Must admit I prefer them here to the ones in London, especially the price differences! My son works in one in London, he goes back to work Monday will be interesting to hear his views. RE: Pubs Opening - SarrissUK - 05-07-2020 I am like you Danny - I like the social aspect of a drink after work, or a night out on the lash with the girls. I've not ventured out this weekend to go to the pub, but I will go for a swift pint after work on Tuesday. Booked a table and everything. It will only be for one pint, and it will definitely be only be one pint, but I am so looking forward to it RE: Pubs Opening - JJB - 05-07-2020 I'm happier with a cup of tea in the garden or in front of the telly, luckily it takes all sorts. RE: Pubs Opening - Greenfingers - 06-07-2020 I used to love a good afternoon/evening at the pub in the days when they were the preserve of adults only. A couple of halves of draught bitter in good company either in the cosy snug or outside in the beer garden depending on the time of year was a pleasure. Even before lockdown such establishments had disappeared in this area. They are now eateries with a soulless bar and/or playgrounds for countless children. I just can't see the attraction. I don't think drinking with social distancing will work and having to pre-book/register takes any spontaneity away. I can't see me testing them out in the near future. It will be interesting to hear how things work out for them however. RE: Pubs Opening - PyreneesPlot - 06-07-2020 I do miss pubs, French cafes & bars have their charm (our local bar is not known as Grumpy Bar for nothing!) but nothing beats a pint after work on a Friday night or a country pub and a long walk. We lived in one village (three pubs) that gave us a walking circuit of about five or six miles but often eight or nine hours because of the seven pubs en route! I guess it has all changes now, and now more than ever. For the record I might sit outside the pub now, but only might RE: Pubs Opening - Veggie - 06-07-2020 I agree with the walk, a country pub and a drink/meal - usually cider and a ploughman's for me. The days of after work drinking are, thankfully, long gone. |
