I am a fan of Black Russian. Not grown for a few years. I love buffalo horn. Nice big tom, get a decent crop, good flavour Tried black icicle for first time last year. I won’t be bothered again. Nothing to write home about in any respect. Me and black cherry just do not get on. Only managed to germinate after 3 years of trying and then it was a very poor crop and I’ve eaten more flavoured toms. Blue bayou again tried once and that’s enough. I liked bloody butcher. I’d like to give that another go. Think it was brandy wine pink I’ve tried. Nice big toms, good flavour if I recall, just not the best cropper . I don’t have any different B’s in my collection RE: Tomatoes beginning with B - Garrett - 20-02-2026 Banana Legs - one of the worst I've ever grown, mushy and bland. Wouldn't recommend. Black and Brown Boar - Very good flavour, the only issue I had was that it has a brown flesh colour inside which I found strangely off-putting! Black Cherry - I just don't find anything special with this one. I've tried it over the years and I'm never impressed with it. They're usually a bit hard for me and bland. Blush - beautiful looking, but bland and mushy. Not particularly productive either and mine succumbed to blight early. Brad's Atomic Grape - again, one of the worst tomatoes I've ever grown. They were sickeningly sweet, tough skin with firm walls yet very watery. I did not like these at all and I did try harvesting at different times. I found them inedible and left them for the slugs. Not much luck with the Bs! |
