Lizard - JJB - 15-06-2025

Whilst planting out some bedding in a very dry bed I was visited by a lizard.  It wasn't very plump and was about 5-6in long. Research tells me it was probably a common lizard. He stopped to say hello then scuttled under the perennial rockery wallflower. First time ever I've seen a lizard in the garden.

Ooh how exciting! I had never seen wild lizards other than in Greece and Turkey on holiday, until I came here. We have a lizard called forest lizard (Zootoca vivipara) and I have seen one a few times now.

No lizard seen by me in this country either, unless a slow worm counts? (I think they are legless lizards, but not sure?) Huh

Yeah, they are.

I’ve seen lots of common lizards. Even seen them up here. Not often though. I’ve also seen the much rarer sand lizard. They are only in a few places down south.
